About Marcia Berg Haskell
After a career in engineering and management, Marcia Berg Haskell retired and began to find new outlets for her creativity, using her interests and hobbies. Ultimately, she began a second career as writer and an artist.
Marcia paints abstracts using acrylics and inks, and her work always contains a lot of texture. Her effects come from the techniques obtained by layering paints and textures to create the feelings she want to convey. Many of her painting use metallic and ‘glitter’ inks to set off details in her work.
Since Marcia prefers using various ways to create her visions, she uses her paintings are her way of displaying emotion and feelings while using photography to capture the patterns and images of her ‘real’ world.
The artist does a lot of photography. She captures nature and the world and patterns around her as well as having developed techniques for creating photographic abstracts, starting with real photographic images as well as pure computer generated images. Her computer abstracts try to convey a feeling or mood, by the use of color and pattern to demonstrate her reactions to the world around me. Marcia's work is mostly about those parts of nature which is often overlooked by the haste in our world. Since she is interested in shapes and patterns she frequently tries to photograph buildings and the unusual angles they demonstrate.
